THE FUTURE WORKS
Emerging client demands encouraged us to develop our newest family of handsets. Our goal was to create a true workhorse of a handheld device that could be put to constant, heavy-duty use and quickly upgraded as software and technology improve.
The result? Nordic ID Merlin is a robust, high performance RFID handheld reader with future-proof, backwards-compatible design that also enables software upgrades to be performed centrally updating units while they are in the field.
With its high-performing and industry-leading standards, we leveraged the Nordic ID Merlin platform to build a comprehensive suite of products. Ideal for a variety of production uses and ommercial applications, these products include: Nordic ID Merlin UHF RFID, Nordic ID Merlin Cross Dipole UHF RFID, Nordic ID Merlin HF and the Nordic ID Merlin. Each device is flexible by design, allowing customers to select from various identfication and communication options to meet their organization's specific needs.

Data Collection
In addition to RFID readers (HF/ UHF), Nordic ID Merlin can be equipped with barcode and 2D barcode imagers. With this solution, only one system is needed to simultaneously work with barcodes and RFID tags. The handheld device is capable to read both information carriers and to describe RFID tags at the same time. It is e.g. possible to write barcode information on RFID tags directly on site.
New standards can be added by remotely managed software updates, which ensure support for the future and secures the investment by extending the product’s life-cycle. At the moment our product range includes HF and UHF RFID, but it is also possible to have the Nordic ID Merlin without RFID reader.
Communication
The Nordic ID Merlin offers various communication possibilities. Depending on which solution is best suited for your environment, you can use WLAN (Summit) and Bluetooth in local networks, or GPRS and GSM for remote locations.
Software Updates
Software updates can be carried out via remote access. This method ensures a permanent support of your systems, making it a future-proof investment thanks to an always technologically up-to-date environment.
